Technical offers
- Transgenic rats by microinjection of short DNA fragments or lentiviral vectors
- Knockout rats by microinjection of Zinc-Finger nucleases or TALE nucleases
- Genotyping (PCR, qPCR, southern blot, LAM-PCR)
- Cryoconservation of transgenic embryos
- Immune response Immunophenotyping and Analysis in genetically-engineered rats
- R&D
- Technological consulting services
- Training in transgenic technology, technological dissemination and organization of scientific events (conferences, student training, trainees, scientific publications)
Applications
- Biotechnologies: developing and validating new technologies in transgenics, mutagenesis, and screening.
- Fundamental/Health Research: Transgenic and Knockout rat models for studies on human diseases or specific genetic/biological functions.
Scientific expertise
The Rat transgenesis core facility is the only academic structure in France offering comprehensive expertise and 15 years experience in rat transgenics.
It was a pioneer in developing and validating two new technologies for inducing targeted mutation in rats: zinc-finger nucleases (Geurts and al., 2009 Science) and TALE nucleases (Tesson andal., 2011 Nat Biotech).
Equipment
- 1 Microinjection workstation
- 2 breeding rooms for Tg/KO rats
- Cell culture, molecular biology laboratory
- 2 cytometers, 1 cell sorter
- Cryoconservation facilities
Access
The core facility is open to all national and international academic and private research teams. In addition to providing services for scientific projects, the platform also collaborates on projects aimed at developing new technologies. Submitting a project:
- Projects are submitted to the head of the platform
- Projects are evaluated and selected
- The applicant and the team in charge of the platform meet up to discuss the project and determine: experimental strategy, methods, deadlines, and delivery options for results…
- A contract is signed once both parties have agreed on the terms and conditions
- Experiments are carried out in compliance with the agreed terms and conditions
- The final report is sent to the applicant
